Snow Leopard

Snow Leopards are a specie of leopard that lives in the harsh snowy mountains, they live above the treeline , high up they rocky paths.Snow leopards have a distinctive white gray coat spotted with black ( not completely circle). Just as its name implies, snow leopards lives and breeds in the coldest regions ( making them part of the chionophile animals).

Snow leopards also called "OUNCE" are natives of the mountain ranges of central and southern Asia. They are scientifically called Panthera Uncia and of the biological -

ORDER: Carnivora

FAMILY: Felidea

KINGDOM: Animalia

PHYLUM: Chordata

Subfamily: Pantherinae

Suborder: Feliformia

As a carnivorous animal snow leopards eats other animals ranging from mountain goats to humans (if you cross their path (: ). Snow leopards are skilled hunter and predators as their fur can provide them with camouflage to help blend into their environment, this tactics helps the snow leopards ambush their pray.

Snow leopards are resilient animals too, they are know to go up to a week between meals.

  Population:

Snow leopards are not classified as endangered but vulnerable, there are an estimate of about 4,080 - 6,590 snow leopards left in the wild. The habitat where snow leopards habits is are known for pouching,  these countries are Russia, Mongolia , Uzbekistan, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Bhutan, Nepal, Afghanistan, Pakistan, , Tajikistan, and China.

Threats:

Snow leopards are decreasing in population due to effects of pouching (humans... always humans), habitat loss and decline in food availability.

             Humans:

(Whats is seriously wrong with humans?....) Humans are the sole predators of snow leopards, they are hunted like other Asian mammals for illegal trades, skin(fur), bones and traditional medicines (Asians!!!).  Snow leopards are also killed by farmers and headers when protecting livestock such as horse, sheep, goats etc .

            Climate Change:

Just as climate change affects us all, it affects snow leopards by causing habitat loss, change in food availability and change in season duration, this regular shifts of events caused by climate crisis changes the natural order to which nature occurs.

Solution

Just like every thing that have to do with humans and climate change, we can save the snow leopards by creating awareness, reduces fossil fuel burning and decrease global CO2 emission.
