The komodo dragons ( varanus komodoensis ), also known as komodo monitors , is a large specie of lizards found around INDONESIAN island of Komodo ,Gili montang , Rinca, etc . Its a member of the lizard family varanidae , and also the largest living species of lizard , growing about a maximum length of 3 meters (10 ft) and weighing about 70 kg.
As a result of their size they dominates the ecosystem in which they live .The komodo dragons hunts and ambush preys including invertebrates ,birds and mammals . there are two teeths in the lower jaw of the komodo that secretes toxic proteins , and they are said to have a venomous bite .The komodo dragons group behavior in hunting is exceptional in the reptile word .
Its diets consists of Timor deer and carrion , as its also said to attack humans occasionally .
